‘TAKING FORM 5’ COLLAGE BY JANET YELNER (1970s)
CONTACT US HERE ABOUT THIS ITEM.
An energetic mixed-media collage on canvas, incorporating raveled fabric and acrylic paint in vivid, sunny tones complemented by crimson highlights, created by contemporary Sonoma, Calif., artist JANET YELNER. The band of tomato-soup-colored stippling across the bottom intriguingly resembles the tire tread of a bicycle. Last hung in an exhibition showcasing the new work of a small Bay Area collective of abstract expressionists with which Yelner was affiliated, its particular dimensions were an entry specification. It is signed and titled en verso and presented in a simple, matt black floater frame.
JANET YELNER attended Sonoma State University in California’s northern Bay Area from 1970 to 1975. She majored in psychology and art and received a bachelor of arts degree.
Lately, I realize I am a storyteller, sans words, but with pictures on a canvas. – JANET YELNER
