FRAMED IMPASTO OIL-ON-BOARD ABSTRACT PAINTING (1980s)
CONTACT US HERE ABOUT THIS ITEM.
A heavily textured abstract, with a mid-century aesthetic, executed in oil on a 2' × 2' square of Masonite. The surface is reticulated with remarkably stringy ridges of impasto into irregularly squared and rounded scales that recall polished crocodile leather—and, in turn, that material’s vaunted opulence. Two olive drab bubbles are shaded with creamy ochre, and scattered dashes of carnelian spell out a counterpoint across the bottom of the canvas. This small-scale, expressionist piece would serve as a fascinating accent in almost any room. By an unknown American artist. In a thin metal frame.
