An exceptional pair of Kutani ware satsuma porcelain bookends in the form of elephants with all-over floral moriage decorations in shades of blue, green, yellow, orange, white, and gold on a rusty red ground. Each is marked on the underside with the Kutani Hachiman chop mark (九谷八幡窯). there is a tiny flea bite on the corner of one elephant (pictured), but they are otherwise in great condition.
