A sophisticated modernist abstract, possibly the work of Argentine sculptor Raúl Farco (b. 1953). Not a major part of his oeuvre, Farco’s paintings are nevertheless strong and unique—both conceptually and technically—and the ideas and figures of his sculptures are seen to recur in his paintings. The enormous variety of visual textures in this work recalls the artist’s thorough mastery of sculptural mediums and their patinas: iron, wood, marble, aluminum, fiberglass, stone, glass, and bronze.
