MIXED MEDIA HARBOR SCENE BY ELIANE ADINGRA (1964)
CONTACT US HERE ABOUT THIS ITEM.
Apart from her name and the years in which she was creatively active (as suggested by her other dated work), we have only a few clues about the identity of ELIANE ADINGRA, the painter of this busy predawn harborscape. She shares the surname of the accomplished mid-century Afro-Cubist painter, Georges-Ebrin Adingra (1933-2005), and the name is highly suggestive of Ivorian heritage (though of course perhaps only by way of marriage). Parisian place names in the titles of many of her other pieces would support the theory. Available unframed for now, we plan to build a frame that will encompass the glue residue left behind with the removal of old matting. Mixed media: gouache, watercolor, and probably ink. Signed and dated.
