A dense and funky mid-century abstract, dynamically sculpturesque in its execution, portraying a mythic horse and rider—or perhaps the fabled Juggernaut! This intricate oil-on-canvas is predominantly colored in royal shades of blue, with details in orange, green, yellow, and black. Signed both front and back in what may be non-Roman script, the name of the West German artist is illegible. (A title appears to once have been written en verso and then subsequently obscured.) While the artwork is in good condition, there is significant crazing throughout—albeit no paint loss. Currently unframed.
