CONTACT US HERE ABOUT THIS ITEM.
Framed pyrography folk-art board featuring a rustic pastoral scene with farming figures and covered oxcarts. Four wagons trundle downhill, while three bargemen punt their rafts upstream in the adjacent canal. The free-handed art of decorating with burn marks, pyrography is a traditional folk art in many parts of Europe, including Romania, Poland, Hungary, and Flanders, as well as in Argentina and other areas in South America. The invention of pyrography machines during the Victorian Era sparked widespread interest in the craft, and it was at this time that “pyrography” replaced the previously popular term “pokerwork.”
