PORTRAIT IN THE STYLE OF DAVID HOCKNEY (1990s)
CONTACT US HERE ABOUT THIS ITEM.
A larger-than-life painting of a middle-aged man in a summer suit and half-rim glasses, whose stooping posture threatens to break the picture’s “fourth wall.” A second figure either looms in a doorway or hangs in portraiture at the back of the room. An unsigned oil on canvas by an unknown artist, this work demonstrates a visual wit and panache reminiscent of English painter David Hockney (b. 1937). The realism suggests that the subject’s likeness has been adroitly captured. Mounted in an unfinished, relatively deep floater frame. Sight dimensions: 19 ¾" H × 22 ¼" W.
