SURREALIST PHANTASIA [a] BY UNKNOWN GERMAN ARTIST (1970s)

One of two untitled surrealist abstractions by a currently unidentified East German painter. The medium appears to be acrylic paint on rag paper. Both depict dystopian dreamscapes—perhaps metaphysical—of intersecting logs and metallic crystals. The inclusion of timbers imparts a steampunk flavor. Here in shades of brown, blue, yellow, and green—with hints of purple. Framed.
